So once you’ve signed on the dotted line, follow these 10 tips for homeowning like a pro:
1. Change or re-key the locks and keypads as soon as possible.
2. Install smart thermostats and smart doorbells
3. Install new carbon monoxide detectors and check smoke detectors are working
4. Replace the air filters and water filters, start a new replacement schedule and set reminders in your calendar
5. Get your chimney cleaned BEFORE you light your first fire in the fireplace or wood stove
6. Meet the neighbors. You never know when you’ll need a friendly favor
